Chile flooding

July 2026

Airbnb.org, in partnership with Desafío Levantemos Chile, is providing free, emergency housing for people who have been displaced by the atmospheric river and severe frontal weather system in Chile. A Category 5 atmospheric river, along with successive frontal systems linked to El Niño, has triggered flooding and landslides across 10 of Chile's 16 regions. The government has declared a preventive state of emergency across these regions as authorities warn of life-threatening conditions, widespread flooding, and significant property damage. Fatalities have been reported and hundreds of thousands of households are without power. Residents impacted by the flooding can directly apply for housing if their primary home is in a mandatory evacuation zone, and we can verify your identity. You must have an Airbnb account to verify your identity, if you don't have one you can create one here. If you have an evacuation notice or an evacuation warning, you are not currently eligible for emergency housing through Airbnb.org.
